Hoop Loop League Rules

League Fees:    $ 70.00 / PLAYER (11 weeks of games)

Age:    18 & Over    (See Rule #4 for exceptions)

NOTE: Convener(s) retain the right to balance teams after the first two weeks due to the misjudgment of team strength.

  1. Pay your $70.00 registration fee on/by Wednesday, May 28th by cash or e-transfer (sent to hooploopbasketball13@gmail.com). You will not be permitted to play until payment is received!

  2. The league waiver must be signed for each participant prior to any games being played. ** Anyone UNDER 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian also sign their waiver.

  3. Players will be placed on teams as fairly as possible considering age, position(s) played, ability/playing experience and multi-player registrations, as judged by the Convenor(s) in order to balance the teams. Players will be assigned to teams as soon as possible following the deadline for Registrations.

  4. The age requirement to play is 18+. Exceptions are only made for invitational high school girls (U18) in order fill teams that need players. Please contact the Convener(s) for permission to play.

  5. All players must wear a white/dark reversible or the colour that their team is set to wear that night based on the schedule (White = Home Team, Dark = Away Team). A # on the jersey is preferred for weekly scorekeeping and for officiating in the Finals.

  6. Each team must volunteer a Team Captain who will be responsible for their team's attendance and act as the spokesperson to the Convenor. It is the player's responsibility to notify her captain if she cannot attend the next game. OR Please establish a team "group chat" to ensure your team is aware of everyone's availability.

  7. The convener will contact the Team Captains if any short-notice changes occur. The captain will then be responsible to contact her team members. The Women's Hoop Loop website will also update any changes as they occur, as soon as possible.

  8. The teams are encouraged to attempt fair playing time for all participants if able to (often depends on # of players on each team). Any concerns about playing time should be relayed to your Team Captain.

  9. In the event that a team cannot field at least 4 players, the game will be forfeited. The opposing team will receive an automatic win and the forfeited team will receive a loss. Convener(s) will proceed to fill the rosters and a scrimmage game will ensue.

  10. In the event that 4 players are in attendance, the team has the option of playing OR forfeiting the game. If the team decides to forfeit, rule #9 will be enforced.

  11. Players from other teams are not permitted to fill the rosters in the event of a team avoiding a forfeit, unless otherwise deemed appropriate by the Convenor(s). Players from other teams are welcome, in case of a scrimmage, in order to still run a game.

  12. Games will consist of two 20-minute running-time halves, excluding the last two minutes of the second half, which will be stop time. A 5-minute warm-up and 5-minute half time will be allotted.

  13. A paid scorekeeper will be provided for each game. Two carded officials will be provided in the Finals Week for all 3 games (Week 10)

  14. On the seventh team foul (per half), double-bonus foul shots will be awarded to the opposing team.

  15. A player who has committed her fifth foul will be eliminated from the game.

  16. A deliberate, unsportsmanlike foul as designated by the scorekeeper or supervising Convenor will result in an immediate ejection of the guilty player from the game.

  17. Jump balls will be awarded according to the possession arrow.

  18. One time out per half is allowed and can be called on the floor by any player on her own possession. Time outs are not cumulative from the first half to the second half.

  19. No full court presses are allowed with the exception of the last two minutes of the second half. If the point spread is >20 in the last 2 minutes, the clock will remain on running time.

  20. All substitutions must check in at the scorer's table before entering the game.

  21. All other rules will adhere to the FIBA rulebook.

  22. NO exposed jewelry & NO hard hair accessories (bobby pins, clips, etc.) are allowed on the court to avoid injury to yourself and others.

  23. Team standings will be determined by each team's win-tie-loss record according to the following point system:    win - 2 pts, tie - 1 pt.  Ties between 2 teams will be broken by win/loss record head to head.  In the event of a tie between 3 teams, the team with the lowest points for and against will receive the higher seed.

  24. This league is a non-for-profit organization. Any annual remaining funds are always donated to local charities or stay within the league for use the following summer.
